“Dark, twisted, and filled with hair-raising moments”

The Blood of the Viper is yet another enthralling addition to author Linda Watkins’ Kate Pomeroy Mystery series. After the events of the summer, Kate and her husband Jeremy Bradshaw welcome the birth of a baby boy named Tad. Living off the coast of Maine on Storm Island, Kate and Jeremy’s somewhat humdrum life is interrupted when an old friend, Omer, pays them a visit. Meanwhile, a mysterious Finnish businessman named Nicholas Saarinen arrives on Storm Island and takes up residence in the mansion previously owned by their former neighbor Ian Morrison. It turns out that Nicholas is none other than their old nemesis Vladimir Sokolov. Suffering from wounds from the previous encounter with Kate and Omer, Vlad now desperately searches for the blood of the Viperae to heal his body and achieve immortality.

Dark, twisted, and filled with hair-raising moments, The Blood of the Viper is a gripping tale of mystery and horror that you just can’t put down. Fans of dark fantasy or gothic horror are in for a treat, for The Blood of the Viper is set to sate their appetites. Moving at a blistering pace, Linda Watkins weaves an intricate yarn filled with twists and turns that keep you hooked to the narrative. The characters are distinct, with backstories that give them an added sense of depth. I found the characters of Kate, Omer, Vlad, and Francisco to be especially compelling to read. Overall, I found The Blood of the Viper to be a unique experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. I would recommend it to fans of gothic horror and dark fantasy.
