But this rebellious attitude doesn’t sit well with those in charge, so she is sent away – on ‘vacation’ – to be unplugged and reset.

But ‘vacation’ in this world is not like any vacation I’ve ever been on. Sent to a remote resort high in the mountains, beyond the reach of Civilnet, Sarah finds herself caught in a dangerous web of betrayal and unrelenting terror. Tossed into the hands of a cruel and malicious serial killer, our heroine must find some way to survive and, most importantly, remember that which she has forgotten.

To say that this novel is a page-turner is an understatement. Perno sucks you in right at the beginning and doesn’t let go. The desperate cat and mouse game that Sarah must play with her abductor was, to me, reminiscent of the best of Dean Koontz (e.g. INTENSITY). Perno’s novel builds steadily, keeping the reader on edge throughout until finally coming to a shocking and surprising conclusion.

I have read quite a few books already in 2015, most by very talented authors, but I have to say that this novel is by far the best of the bunch.

This is indeed an outstanding read and I recommend it very highly and without any reservation whatsoever.
